Why File For a Tax Extension?

If you are going to file a tax extension you should know that your new due date is October 15. Filing by then will help you to avoid a penalty. Also know that just because you are granted an extension it doesn't mean that you do not have to pay any taxes you owe. The IRS expects you to pay your tax liability by April 15 even if you have until October to file your return.
